Lyrics

You were walking alone up Cuadrante
Over cobblestones wet from the rains of the day
With your hair up in clips
And the sway of your hips
How could I’ve missed
You were walking away?

I’ve never felt closer to nowhere
I’ve never been nowhere before
Forgive me my sins and
My trespasses in
To this nowhere outside your front door

Last night I could swear I saw Venus
In the cradle of Scorpio’s tail
Like the poisonous diamond between us
And the blood that we left back on the trail.

Blame makes a man feel guilty
Shame makes a man want to die
But nothing hurts worse
Or compares to the curse
Of that thousand mile look in your eyes

Now the shadows are long on Cuadrante
As Mission bells toll the remains of the day
There’s a slow rolling train
On the Alamos plain
Heard someone say you were
Headed that way

And I’ve never felt closer to nowhere
I’ve never been nowhere before
Forgive me my sins and my trespasses in
To this nowhere outside your front door
To this nowhere outside your front door
I’m still walking the street they call
Cuadrante
